I’m a big fan of Dancing with the Stars including running a Dancing with the Stars blog. So, I was really excited to see this video of Julianne Hough (Dancing with the Stars Judge and Pro) talking about her perspective on redefining success.
Thanks to Strayer University for putting the video together. The only thing that partially irks me about the video is that Julianne Hough has essentially accomplished success in dancing, music, and acting. No doubt that has afforded her some reasonable amount of financial freedom as well. It’s much easier for someone who’s achieved that success to say that there are more important things in life. However, her point about her tasting that type of fame and fortune success and still feeling empty is worth considering.
I believe this is why many of us work in healthcare IT. There are plenty of other industries where we could likely make more money working on technology. However, success and happiness in life is about more than money. Doing something you love and something that makes a difference is much more valuable than most of us realize. Let’s not take that for granted as we think about our careers in health care.
