Many of you reading this blog are healthcare IT leaders or would like to become healthcare IT leaders. The key to amazing leadership is learning quickly that you can’t do everything alone. The only way you’ll be successful in healthcare IT is if you have an amazing team.
I came across this quote today which summarizes the essence of what a good leader does:
Certainly we’ve all heard the stories of leaders that are selfish and somehow made it to the top. From my experience, those leaders don’t last very long. The very best leaders are those who focus more on advancing the team than worrying about their own well being or glory. Ironically, many of those who focus on their team end up doing very well and enjoy much of the glory.
If you’re a leader or aspiring to be a leader, consider whether you’re selfless and put your team before yourself.
