What was your first job?
Going back, my very first job was having a newspaper route in the 5th grade. I had two friends that had routes and thought it would be great to make a few dollars each month. Looking back on it, it was a seven day a week job – five days a week after school, and every Saturday and Sunday morning, and if If I wanted a day off I had to find a friend to cover for me. Sunday of course had the larger papers which made it the toughest day. It started out being fun and ended up being a lot of responsibility.
What was your worst job?
I played baseball in college. During my sophomore year, a teammate and I became umpires for our local Little League. Every weekend, we would umpire two games – one umpiring home plate and the other umpiring the bases. What I didn’t know when I signed up was how critical some of those parents could be. WOW! Some of the games were pretty intense. Towards the end, I just hoped that there wouldn’t be many close plays to call.
What are you going to blog about?
I will blog about the day to day experiences our firm deals with in helping clients and candidates come together. Companies today look to hire people that are a good fit with their organizations. And, at the same time, people are looking for the company that is right for them. Over the years my observations have taught me that making this happen takes a great deal of art and science. I have also found that the better the science is executed, the easier the art flows into place.
