What was your first job?
My first job was working for a… well… unconventional business man. He bought Americana from flea markets around the country and sold it to design firms who re-purposed the items for things like restaurant decoration. My job was to drive the U-Haul all over the east coast and buy junk at flea markets. Then I’d unload truck-loads of stuff to his basement, all during the summer months. Meanwhile, my boss would cook me home-made Italian lunches, stuffed peppers, anchovy toast, and home made-raviolis. Lunch always made up for all the back-breaking hauling I had to do!


What was your worst job?
I do Marketing Consulting for small businesses and I had one client who was just impossible to work with. They wanted to get on Twitter, so I planned a two-hour hands on training just for them. But no one had any time. So I had to deliver this training 2 or 3 times to each individual just to make sure they got the content, which I was willing to do because leveraged intelligently, Twitter is an amazing tool!   Then, when their advertising campaign started returning double the sales conversion rate, they complained that they were not getting as many clicks as before. So I asked them, do you want more sales or do you want more clicks? I’m still waiting for them to pay my fee! I guess some times no matter how much we can help a client, they need to first be willing to change the way they look at their world.


What are you going to blog about?
My focus and passion is helping job seekers sort out all the conflicting messages about social media, including LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. There is a lot of free content out there, most of it is unproven or subjective. I bring rigor to my writing, backing everything up with interviews and solid research because I want you to find a job faster. And I know that job seekers who leverage social media are at a huge advantage over those who don’t. Besides seeing private clients and blogging on CareerEnlightenment.net, I conduct live training and workshops all over the country. Areas of focus are Personal Branding, Social Media Job Search Strategy, LinkedIn Tips, Twitter Job Seeking and more….
