Healthcare IT Boot Camp – Immersive, Intensive, Immediate

As the demand for Healthcare IT professionals heats up, the candidate landscape is also becoming more competitive.  As a job seeker, certifications are a sure way to get a leg up on the competition.  In addition to the specific vendor certifications, which we all know are extremely desirable, two other certifications that I’m beginning to hear discussed more frequently by hiring managers are the CPHIT and the CPEHR. That’s why I’m excited to tell you all about Healthcare IT Central’s newest educational partner, “Training Camp.” In partnership with HITC, Training Camp offers professional training and certification (CPHIT and CPEHR) for those responsible for planning, selecting, implementing, and managing electronic health records (EHR) and other health information technology (HIT).  Training Camp’s program is an intensive, immersive, 5-day program giving you:

  • Total-Immersion Training delivered by HITC Authorized Instructors.
  • Courseware which encompasses the HITC Common Body of Knowledge.
  • Training Camp’s HITC-endorsed accelerated review guide, and comprehensive pre-class study materials.
  • Onsite delivery of CPHIT and CPEHR examinations.
  • Five days of hotel accommodations, most meals, unlimited beverages and snacks.

Who is HITC ?  HEALTH IT CERTIFICATION ADVISORY BOARD A distinguished advisory panel and faculty have pooled their experience to create a training program that is practical, offering tools that directly relate to on-the-job needs. The certification process has been developed by a team of both knowledgeable experts, as well those with a background in psychometrics, to ensure that the certification process is valid and role-based. Examination items test at the application, synthesis and evaluation levels through case studies and scenarios. Here are the details of each of the two certifications that the Boot Camp will prepare you to master in 5 days:

1. Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT)

Upon completion of the CPHIT program, individuals will be able to:

-Appreciate the scope and complexity of today’s healthcare environment and use of information technology, use appropriate change management strategies, and recognize legal and regulatory opportunities and constraints to gain adoption of and hence meet the goals for HIT, HIE and EHR.

-Apply the concept of a migration path to continuously manage the data-information-knowledge continuum in ultimately achieving full functionality of a comprehensive HIT, HIE and EHR system. -Continuously monitor the environment for emerging technologies to complement the migration path toward enhanced use of HIT and achievement of the EHR.

-Be prepared to assume a leadership role in planning and managing EHR system selection and implementation. -Understand the need for, and be able to document and measure realization of a benefits portfolio that ensures appropriate return on HIT investment.

-Recognize emerging trends in the healthcare industry and lessons learned from around the globe to address local/regional health information exchange.

2. Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR)

Upon completion of the CPEHR program, individuals will be able to:

-Appreciate the scope and complexity of today’s healthcare environment and use of information technology, use appropriate change management strategies, and recognize legal and regulatory opportunities and constraints to gain adoption of and hence meet the goals for HIT, HIE and EHR.

-Apply the concept of a migration path to continuously manage the data-information-knowledge continuum in ultimately achieving full functionality of a comprehensive HIT, HIE, and EHR system.

-Assume a leadership role in managing the quality of data in the EHR, using information from EHR and personal health records (PHR) to support care coordination, and creating knowledge for clinical decision support.

-Appreciate special considerations for development and adoption of computerized provider order entry (CPOE), bar code medication administration record (BC-MAR), e-prescribing, and other technologies to support medication management for patient safety.

-Continuously monitor and participate effectively in standards development efforts to achieve the appropriate level of interoperability required to support provider, personal, and population health information requirements.

-Appropriately apply electronic document/content management (ED/CM) system technologies to transition to and complement an EHR.
