5 Killer Interview Questions

There are plenty of great resources out there with interview questions. In fact, there are so many that it’s hard to know which ones are really good and which ones aren’t. I say this to both employers who want to have some good interview questions to find the right people and also to those seeking a job and want to have some good questions they can consider answering as part of their practice for an interview.

With that in mind I was really interested in these 5 questions that James Caan posted on Linkedin:

If I called your manager and asked what one thing irritated them about you, what would they say?

What was your claim to fame in your previous role?

If you had a magic wand and could have any job, what would it be?

If you’re offered this job how could you transform the role?

He’s right that these are killer interview questions because they get at the more traditional interview questions, but they come at it from an expected angle. This will often provide a unique response.

What I also love about these questions is that it helps to ensure the job seeker understands who they are and what they want to be. I think that’s one of the biggest challenges as a job seeker. We all have things we’re passionate about and my experience is that people will be much more productive and happy if they’re doing something they enjoy. These questions help an employer and even the job seeker understand where their heart lies.

I’d love to hear what interview questions you enjoy. Please share in the comments.
