What was your first job
?

When I was in 1st grade – I sold hotdogs and Cokes at the South Carolina football home games in Columbia each season. I would always try to “sell out” of my inventory early so I could watch the 2nd half of the game. I always managed to find a great seat! I did that for several years and figured out the risk/reward game at a very young age. At the age of 12, I moved up the sales food chain and sold Fuller Brush door-to-door after school each day. I learned first-hand what rejection was all about but also learned some really good lessons about work ethic and determination that have impacted my life in a very positive way.

What was your worst job?
When I was 16 I worked at a door factory where I had the sole responsibility of drilling holes in very high-end solid wood doors so the door knobs could be assembled and placed on the show-room floor for sale to the public. I hated that job. Boring and monotonous. Same old same old every day! One day (must have been tired) I somehow managed to drill holes on the wrong side of the door and ruined dozens of high-end doors that had to be discarded and apparently this did not go very well with my boss. He gave me my final check and politely informed me that I did not need to work there any longer. I felt horrible about the mistake I made but in the end – I was thrilled!

What are you going to blog about?
I will blog about the day to day activities we deal with in working with clients and candidates in my executive search practice.  I can’t make this stuff up! Each day brings a new situation and a new story. Our product happens to be human capital. They walk, talk, change their minds and demonstrate both streaks of brilliance at times and… not so much brilliance. Since I have a birds-eye view of the entire search process from both sides of the table (client and candidate) I have an opportunity to learn something new from each assignment and will share that information with you firsthand. My hope is that you find my blogs both fun and engaging. Finally, my goal is to provide a fresh perspective to the readership on executive search while and occasionally adding my two cents of advice to employers and candidates in the healthcare IT market are so proud to serve. I can’t wait!
